With the stories of celebrities like Serena Williams and Beyonce and their near fatal childbirths, it is more important than ever to take charge of our healthcare as black women. According to the CDC’s Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System, black women are three to four times as likely to be at risk of pregnancy-related deaths as white women.

During this workshop we will not only discuss reproductive health in black women but also examine the intersection of racism and sexism and how they contribute to negative health outcomes for black women. We will have a panel of speakers from the Boston area who will provide us with their medical/clinical expertise. Our goal is for you to leave knowing how to advocate for yourself and your family in clinical settings!

Come join us in April for an evening of both pivotal health information and networking. RSVP is encouraged, we hope to see you there! Special thanks to our partnering organizations: The Queens Company, The Boston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the MGH Department of Medicine.

RSVP is encouraged but attendees will be admitted on a first come first serve basis until capacity. Early arrival is strongly recommended, doors open at 6:30PM!

If you have any questions/concerns, please e-mail the event organizer, Olivia Umoren at olivia.umoren@mgh.harvard.edu.
